Jahan Foulad: 16 Years of Development, 16 Years of Export

Jahan Foulad Gharb Company is the first manufacturing unit established by Shokri Group. The groundbreaking ceremony for this complex took place in 2004 (1383 in the Persian calendar). Three years later, in 2007 (1386), a factory was born that quickly became well-known in Kermanshah Province. Today, Shokri Group is one of the largest industrial conglomerates in the country, but many still know it by the name Jahan Foulad Gharb.

Jahan Foulad Gharb is the identification card of Shokri Group and indeed marks the beginning of a significant industrial movement that has much to say in the steel industry of the country.

The nominal capacity of this unit is 300,000 tons per year for producing various steel sections including beams, channels, angles, and rebars. Currently, Jahan Foulad Gharb directly employs 400 individuals.

One of the strengths and achievements of the Jahan Foulad complex is its export capability, which has enabled it to cover markets from western to eastern neighbors and even beyond the region.

According to the factory’s CEO, Jahan Foulad Gharb is export-oriented from its inception, initially focusing on exports to Iraq due to its proximity to the border. Over time, leveraging high-quality standards and proper planning, its exports have expanded to other countries as well

Development and export of Jahan Foulad Company

Jahan Foulad Gharb currently exports to a variety of countries including Iraq, Turkey, South Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Oman, and Georgia.

. Another notable feature of Jahan Foulad Gharb is its continuous and ongoing development. The factory’s CEO mentioned that the trend of workforce expansion in this complex has always been upward, with over 400 employees currently working solely in this unit of Shokri Industrial Group.

He emphasized that Jahan Foulad has successfully navigated through multiple economic crises thanks to prudent management and the dedication of its hardworking staff. During each economic downturn, many similar factories were forced to close or downsize, whereas Jahan Foulad has managed to thrive.

Last year, with the achievement of the capability to produce IPN beams, which are known for their high strength and resistance, we positioned ourselves as the first private sector manufacturer in the country and the second overall in Iran after Esfahan. With this success, we were able to export our product to Turkey, a major global steel powerhouse. In fact, we have reached a point where we are exporting our products to a country from which we once imported technology.

The CEO of Jahan Foulad Gharb continued by highlighting the challenges and issues ahead, particularly addressing currency problems. He emphasized that the issue of repatriating foreign currency from exports and the disparity between exchange rates in the free market and the subsidized rate create significant challenges for manufacturers. Currently, production costs are incurred in freely convertible currency, while the products must be sold at the subsidized exchange rate.
