Jahan Foulad Gharb, a member of Shokri Industrial Group, has obtained the international ISO 14064 certification for the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions. This achievement marks a step forward in strengthening the company’s environmental management framework and advancing its carbon management practices
The significance of this certification has increased as the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) entered its definitive phase in 2026, bringing iron and steel products within its scope. In this context, calculating the embedded emissions of products and maintaining reliable, verifiable emissions data are important requirements for compliance with carbon-related regulations.
The certification builds on Jahan Foulad Gharb’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment, optimize energy consumption, and reduce the environmental impacts of its production processes. Implementing the requirements of this standard can enable more accurate monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions, help identify opportunities for emissions reduction, improve energy efficiency, and support the development of targeted carbon management plans.
With an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes and a hot-rolling line, Jahan Foulad Gharb has also taken steps to implement and develop management and environmental systems, including the international ISO 9001 quality management standard and ISO 14001 environmental management standard.
Beyond strengthening the company’s management and environmental infrastructure, this achievement could support the adoption of low-carbon production practices and improve its readiness to meet the evolving requirements of international steel trade. Achieving these objectives will require continuous monitoring of emissions data, the establishment of measurable greenhouse gas reduction targets, and the implementation of improvement programs in energy use and production processes.
