As part of its educational mission and with the aim of enhancing the specialized knowledge of students and professionals interested in occupational safety, health, and environmental protection, the Jahan Foulad Gharb University of Applied Science and Technology hosted a specialized webinar titled “The Hidden Hazards of Electronic Waste” as part of its ongoing “Webinar Tuesdays” series.
The webinar was presented by Dr. Samira Khamoutian Hamedan, a faculty member at the University, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, via the Skyroom online platform. The session addressed one of the most significant environmental and public health challenges of the modern era: the rapid growth of electronic waste.
The specialized session covered a range of topics, including the hazard profile of electronic waste, environmental impacts, effects on human health, the lithium crisis, green waste management, and the role of citizens in the proper management and disposal of electronic waste.
The webinar also emphasized that electronic waste should not be treated as ordinary household waste. Improper handling and disposal can pose serious risks to human health and the environment. Therefore, active participation by citizens, recycling industries, and government agencies is essential for effectively controlling and managing this growing environmental challenge.
The webinar was attended by instructors, students studying Occupational Safety and Technical Protection, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), as well as other interested participants from University of Applied Science and Technology centers across the province.
At the conclusion of the session, participants expressed their appreciation for the program’s academic quality and practical content and called for the continued organization of specialized sessions as part of the “Webinar Tuesdays” series.
