The Second International Conference on Steel Industries and Structures was held on May 18–19, 2025, at Shahid Chamran Hall, University of Tehran, with the participation of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tehran and in cooperation with the Specialized Center for the Steel Industry. The event brought together high-ranking government officials, prominent university professors, ambassadors of foreign countries, and senior managers of Iran’s steel industry.
At the opening ceremony, distinguished figures such as Dr. Aghajahanlou, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade and Head of IMIDRO; Dr. Omidi, President of the University of Tehran; Dr. Khosronejad, Secretary of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution; and Mr. Mehdi Chamran, Chairman of the Islamic City Council of Tehran, delivered speeches. A number of national officials, engineering experts, and active managers in the steel production and structure chain were also actively present at this event.
The main theme of the conference focused on exploring the challenges and opportunities facing the country’s steel industry. In specialized panels, topics such as enhancing the cooperation between industry and academia, sustainable energy supply, environmental issues, and improving productivity in the steel production chain were discussed and exchanged.
On the sidelines of the conference, Mr. Ahmadipour, CEO of Jahan Foulad Gharb and representative of the Shokri Industrial Group, held separate meetings with the Deputy Head of the National Engineering Organization and Dr. Akhavan, Senior Advisor to the National Standards Organization. These meetings explored areas for cooperation in implementing joint research projects, developing specialized standards, and strengthening interaction between the industry sector, standardization bodies, and the national engineering community.
With scientific contributions from the Departments of Civil Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials, and Industrial Engineering of the University of Tehran, as well as from specialized scientific associations, the conference played a significant role in strengthening the link between academic research and industrial needs and created a favorable environment for the development of technological collaborations in the steel sector.
