In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Day, a special ceremony honoring the invaluable contributions of educators was held on Wednesday, May 12, at the Provincial Applied Science and Technology Center. The event was attended by Dr. Shafiei, President of the University of Applied Science and Technology in Kermanshah Province, along with the heads of the Applied Science and Technology Centers affiliated with the Law Enforcement Organization, Jahan Foulad Gharb, the Red Crescent Society, and Pars Fanal. The gathering also brought together distinguished faculty members, university staff, and academic officials to recognize excellence in teaching and academic achievement.
During the ceremony, Dr. Shafiei welcomed the attendees and extended his congratulations on the occasion of Teacher Appreciation Day. Highlighting the esteemed status of educators across cultures worldwide, he emphasized the pivotal role that faculty members play in advancing scientific progress, cultural enrichment, and social development. He noted that dedicated educators serve as key drivers of knowledge creation, innovation, and the cultivation of future generations, making a lasting impact on the growth and prosperity of society.
Dr. Shafiei further noted that the University of Applied Science and Technology is founded on a systematic integration of academic knowledge, practical experience, professional skills, and workforce development. He emphasized that the role of faculty members extends far beyond the transfer of knowledge; it encompasses mentorship, skills training, and the development of capable, innovative, and industry-ready professionals.

According to Dr. Shafiei, instructors at Applied Science and Technology centers must possess a comprehensive understanding of competency-based and skills-oriented education. This expertise enables them to effectively bridge theoretical learning with practical applications, ensuring that students acquire the skills and competencies needed to meet the evolving demands of industry and society.
The President of the University of Applied Science and Technology in Kermanshah Province also highlighted the evolving role of educators in the modern era, emphasizing that teachers are no longer merely conveyors of information. Instead, they are expected to play a critical and creative role in the learning process—one that fosters the development of analytical, innovative, and solution-oriented students equipped to address the challenges of an increasingly complex world.
Concluding the ceremony, outstanding faculty members and distinguished instructors from Applied Science and Technology centers were formally recognized for their contributions to education and academic excellence. Honorees were selected based on a range of criteria, including teaching performance, research achievements, instructional effectiveness, authorship of academic publications, and the publication of scholarly articles. In recognition of their accomplishments, they were presented with certificates of appreciation and commemorative awards.
