    University of Applied Science and Technology Kermanshah Hosts “Pathways to Progress” Industry Tour and Scientific Association Council Elections at Shokri Industrial Group

    As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry and to familiarize students with the province’s industrial and manufacturing capabilities, the “Pathways to Progress” Technology Tour for students of the University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST) centers in Kermanshah Province was held on June 7, 2026, hosted by Shokri Industrial Group.

    As part of the program, a group of students from the Jahan Foulad Gharb, Red Crescent, Law Enforcement, and Industrial Management Applied Science and Technology education centers, along with members of the university’s scientific associations and cultural clubs, toured Jahan Sanat Kermanshah Company and the Bisotoun Iron Reduction and Bisotoun Direct Reduction (DRI) Plant, gaining firsthand insight into the region’s industrial operations and production processes.

    In the first segment of the industrial tour, participants visited Jahan Sanat Kermanshah Company, where they explored various production units and industrial facilities, gaining first-hand exposure to the company’s capabilities, infrastructure, and manufacturing processes.
    The program then continued with a visit to the Bisotoun Iron Reduction Unit, where attendees were introduced to its production capacity, the direct reduction (DRI) line project, and the unit’s strategic role within Iran’s national steel value chain.

    Following the field visits, a joint meeting was held with the participation of officials from the University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST) Kermanshah Province and managers of Shokri Industrial Group.
    The meeting emphasized the important role of scientific associations in developing specialized skills, enhancing cultural activities, and increasing student engagement in academic and social processes.

    Ms. Shambiyati, Head of Cultural Affairs at the University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST) Kermanshah Province, highlighted the role of scientific associations and emphasized the importance of raising student awareness about the capacities and opportunities they offer. She noted that supporting active students is a key factor in fostering their academic growth and professional skill development.

    Mr. Jahanbin Shokri, a member of the Board of Directors of Shokri Industrial Group, emphasized the importance of responsibility within student organizations, stating: “Scientific associations provide a valuable platform for gaining experience, strengthening managerial skills, and playing an effective role in advancing the country’s scientific and industrial development.”
    Introducing Shokri Industrial Group as the first integrated steel production value chain in the province, he also identified skilled human capital as the most critical driver of industrial progress and development.

    Dr. Heidari, Acting Head of the Jahan Foulad Gharb Applied Science and Technology Training Center, emphasized the skills-based nature of education at the University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST). He described the close proximity between academia and industry as a unique opportunity to train skilled professionals who are fully prepared to enter the labor market.

    In the final segment of the program, elections were held for the councils of secretaries of scientific associations and cultural clubs of the University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST) Kermanshah Province. Following the nomination process, voting, and ballot counting, the Provincial Chief Secretary of Scientific Associations and the Provincial Chief Secretary of Cultural Clubs were officially elected

    The program was organized with the aim of strengthening academia–industry collaboration, promoting a culture of skills-based learning, and familiarizing students with the province’s industrial achievements. It provided a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and the enhancement of student engagement and participation.
